Please note that Appearance + Home Page is a shortcut, only found in certain SiteOrigin themes like SiteOrigin North. If you aren’t using North, go to Settings + General in your main WordPress menu. There you can assign any one of your pages as the website home page. Once assigned, go to Pages and edit that page.

Page Settings like Masthead Bottom Margin are specific to SiteOrigin North and other SiteOrigin themes. If you aren’t using SiteOrigin North, check your theme documentation to see if page settings to remove items like the header (masthead) bottom margin are available.

Widgets like the SiteOrigin Hero and Headline widget are added by the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin. Once activated, go to Plugins + SiteOrigin Widgets to activate the widgets you’d like to use.

  1. Thanks for the tutorial:)
Question: I see at 11:20 you used .em for fontsize instead of pixels. I know that i a simpler way to let the fontsize adjust itself to the screen size, right?
Is there some simple logic or calculating method in using the right amount of .em instead of pixels?

  2. lol I downloaded SiteOrigin North theme, and went to Appearance like you did here in the start but.. I don't have "Edit As Page" or "Live Editor". And I don't have that "SiteOrigin" tab on the left below "Plugins", whatever that is.

What is going on. Im looking up a tutorial but 30 seconds in I don't even have the same basic functions

  3. This style of presenting lessons is really overwhelming to where the instructor is not teaching the steps on doing certain things and explains why certain things are done or not done a certain way. Instead, the instructor just do to a number of steps fast while talking, and that is not a helpful lesson to me.

  4. Excellent! I am new to using SiteOrigin's Page Builder, but you made it seem so easy. (And I guess it is, really). It took me three tries, but I was able to get my site looking almost as good as your example. Thank you.
